DESIGN SYSTEMS more discursive and reflective approach based on debating

SLOW DESIGN THINKING! Its Really about "Deep Thinking" not fast passed Solutions !
That is why i love my job and not doing "Meetoo" Design Thinking approach...if so at the starting point of the Design System Process i'am running this week at Karel de Grote University, i would not have Macro research themes for innovation from my students as:
  • Legalize Drugs (societal and technological point of view)
  • Mischaracterization of society (lost of values, norms, Meaningful jobs and purpose)
  • Mobility (green technology, human centred systems, smart cities)
  • Culture Diversity (how it impacts jobs and education)
  • Security (Technologies, personal spheres, Crime rats)
Following empathy maps, personas, customer journeys at these point i would have fuc.... ideas about Apps, Drone Services and stupid not needed products...
My new discursive and reflective approach based on prospective debates among students on social issues, based on their meaning and purpose, has produced encouraging results that allow me to think that I am training students better prepared for the real challenges that entrepreneurs and innovators face nowadays.
DESIGN "DEEP" Thinking and Doing not following wasted formulas ! ... these are first year students from International Business School in KdG Antwerp...
In the end of the week lets see how they transformed these Macro Theme into Innovation opportunities ...
At DELLI - Design Lusófona Lisboa research unit, we are transforming the DESIGN THINKING model into DESIGN METASYSTEMS, Focusing on getting students and the co-creative teams to debate and discuss more on societal Gamechanging issues that may help to come up with innovative solutions based on Purpose and Meaning for a better, more efficient and inclusive world.
